Five things that make this work better
- Use three to five tags, not thirty. Past about five, the extra tags dilute the signal instead of adding to it.
- Keep at least two tags small enough that your video could realistically sit in the top posts. A tag with 40 million videos is a lottery ticket.
- Never use a trending tag that has nothing to do with the video. The mismatch shows up in the engagement rate, and the platform reads that.
- Put the most specific tag first. It carries the most information about what the video actually is.
- Open the tag before you use it. Tags drift, and some get quietly taken over by something you do not want to sit next to.
